Ducati’s Marc Marquez managed to stay ahead of brother Alex Marquez to take his fourth Sprint race victory, from four sprint races in 2025.

After a tight but cautious start for most riders in the field, it was the Marquez brothers and Franco Morbidelli who led the way, as Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer began to climb his way through the field from eighth position. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia struggled to recover after a poor qualifying result left him in 11th.

Jorge Martin began to make steady progress from 14th on the grid, at one point overtaking his 2023 and 2024 championship rival Bagnaia at Turn 6. However, as the race progressed, the reigning champion began to struggle, dropping back to 16th place.

After a relatively tricky opening half of the sprint race, Bagnaia would finally begin to come back through the field, overtaking Maverick Vinales on the last lap. Vinales had been caught by multiple riders, with Aldeguer making an aggressive pass on the Spaniard in Sector 3, before being overtaken in the closing stages by three other riders. Vinales would unfortunately finish outside of the points entirely after a solid sixth place grid start.

Marco Bezzecchi would follow his compatriot Bagnaia through to finish in ninth place, securing a points finish after starting from 13th on the grid. Fabio Quartararo would be another stand-out finisher, after starting third and finishing fifth, it doesn’t sound too impressive, but Quartararo was one of the only riders to really challenge the Ducati’s throughout the Sprint race.

However, after opening a strong lead, it was Marc Marquez who managed to dominate the Sprint race, taking his fourth sprint win from four sprint races in 2025, as Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli finished second and third, to close out the podium places, with Morbidelli having overtaken Quartararo early on.

MotoGP returns at 18:00 UK time on Sunday 13th April for the Qatar Grand Prix, with Marc Marquez starting from pole position.
