Saudi Arabian GP Race Takeaways: Piastri is ice cold

Oscar Piastri got his third race win of the season in Jeddah, which earned him the leadership of the 2025 World Drivers’ Championship.

The McLaren driver outraced Max Verstappen at the start, but not only that. He managed to keep his cool, before his opponent was penalised for “leaving the track and gaining an advantage”.

The Aussie seems like the most credible Championship contender so far. He simply makes less mistakes then more experienced teammate Lando Norris. At least for now…

Ferrari need to sort out qualifying

Ferrari showed great race pace, at least with Charles Leclerc, in Jeddah. The SF-25 was competitive on Sunday, but not as much so in qualifying.

With clean air being so important in modern Formula 1, if the Scuderia need to sort out those issues in order to challenge for wins.

Sainz now feels at ease in the Williams

Carlos Sainz has had the measure of Alexander Albon, after a difficult start to his Williams career. Apparently, his problems were solved as soon as the team gave him a new chassis.

By getting his form back the way he has done in the triple-header, the Spaniard can now consistenly challenge for the points paying positions.

Doohan could be replaced as soon as the Miami GP

The first five weekends of 2025 have been everything but easy for Jack Doohan. The Alpine rookie has gone through all kinds of difficult moments, like crashes and penalties.

With Colapinto being the team’s reserve driver, it is looking ever more likely that the Aussie will be replaced sooner or later.

Considering Doohan has not scored points yet, the switch could well happen as soon as the next race, at the Miami Grand Prix.
